Details & specs
Overview
Two tall boys of lift for the smallest car on the road. This 3" kit raises the 2008–2015 Smart Fortwo 451 using its factory mounts, so you get real ground clearance and room for an all-terrain stance without touching a cutting wheel.
Why it's worth it
- 3" of lift on the Smart Fortwo 451
- Bolt-on install using factory mounting points
- No frame cutting or welding
- Heavy-duty steel with a powder coat finish
- Full-color, step-by-step instructions in the box
- The base for a full stance: 4x156 adapters, 15x7 wheels and 215/75R15 all-terrains
Fitment
Fits the 2008–2015 Smart Fortwo 451, including Pure, Passion and Brabus. We have specific adjustments to the kit for the electric 451. It can go on a Smart 450 with modified rear shock hangers, but we make no fitment guarantee on the 450. Driving a 2016+ 453? You need our 453 buffer lift kit instead.
What's in the box
- Lift kit components
- Mounting hardware
- Full-color instructions
Wheels, tires, wheel adapters and fender flares are sold separately.
Install
The kit bolts on at the factory mounting points with no frame cutting or welding. Follow the color printed, step-by-step instructions. After the lift, the factory negative camber in the rear normalizes under no load. If you want an alignment, put about 400 miles on the car first so the lift can settle.
Wheels and tires
Going for the full look? Our 3x112 to 4x156 wheel adapters let the 451 run our 15x7 4x156 wheels. The 215/75R15 all-terrains we list for the 451 need this lift to clear. Going much bigger, like 28" tires, takes some easy clearance trimming of superficial pinch welds. Build a lifted Smart car in the 451 kit builder, where every part shown fits your car.

Questions about this part
What tire size does it run?
Our 451 builds run 215/75R15 all-terrains on 15x7 wheels drilled 4x156, mounted with our 3x112 to 4x156 Smart 450/451 adapters (3x112). Those 215s need this lift to clear. Going much bigger, like 28" tires, takes some easy clearance trimming of superficial pinch welds.
What's in the box, and what else do I need?
The kit gives you 3" of lift: lift kit components, mounting hardware and full-color instructions. Wheels, tires, wheel adapters and fender flares are sold separately. The 451 kit builder lays out the full stance step by step, and every part shown fits the 451.
Will it fit my Smart 450 or 453?
It can go on a 450, but that requires modifying the rear shock hangers, and we make no guarantees on fitment or compatibility for that generation. Contact us before you order. 2016+ cars are the 453 generation and need the 453 buffer lift kit.
Can I install it myself?
Yes. It bolts on at the factory mounting points with no frame cutting or welding, and ships with color printed, step-by-step instructions. Prefer a pro? Any trusted mechanic or collision shop can install it. Ask for our shop write-up through our contact form.
Do I need an alignment?
The factory negative camber in the rear normalizes under no load after the lift. That's normal. If you want an alignment, put about 400 miles on the car first so the lift can settle.
